There are numerous pests and fungi that can harm our culture, we must be attentive and observe our beloved plants, it is the most effective way to prevent any disease. Although we have caution, sometimes insects or fungi play a trick on us, this usually happens when the temperature and humidity are high in our crop.
As a preventive of pests in our cannabis plants we have published an article, but if we already have the invasion we will have to apply some organic or chemical insecticide or introduce a natural predator.
The different pests that we can find in our marijuana cultivation are:
Red spider, in the first phase of this plague the leaves are filled with white dots, later the leaves become discolored (grayish tone) and finally appear small red spiders that try to colonize the plant with their cobwebs.
Minadores, is a fly of a size smaller than 5mm, when they lay their eggs inside the stems and the larva is born, they make a series of interior galleries reaching all the leaves, and quickly causing the deterioration of the plant. It is a plague difficult to extinguish although if we catch it in time we can try to save our harvest.
Pillbugs, is an insect that seems to have a carapace and nails its tusk especially in the stem although it can also appear in leaves and flowers, the pillbugs are dedicated to suck the sap and when they defecate a fungus can appear called bold, and there is the problem .
White fly, is born from larvae deposited in the back of the leaves, this insect normally white sucks the sap causing a few white specks on the leaf. The plant immediately lowers its level of chlorophyll and can not make a correct photosynthesis, drastically reducing the quality of the crops.
The caterpillars possibly the plague more widespread in cannabis plants, the problem of the caterpillars is not so much what devours, as the excrement it generates. The defecation of this larva is what really spoils the buds, making fungi appear as botrytis or mold.
Aphids, these insects of green or black color usually, are of small size of 2mm to 5mm and of globose aspect. These sucking insects have the same problem as cochineal and whitefly, the amount of chlorophyll they absorb from the plant clearly harms the quality of the harvest.
Trip, this small insect with wings, is very persistent although not especially aggressive. The symptoms are clear, when you see in your plants some small galleries of between one and two millimeters in the leaves, danger! They are the holes that the trip makes when sucking and at the same time where it makes the laying of its eggs. They will not finish with the harvest but if they colonize the plant and the leaves become silver, they will surely decimate the buds.
Snails or slugs, they are not harmful to marijuana plants but if we let them roam freely, they are eating leaves and flowers, as we are greedy and we want the buds just for us it is best to remove them one by one and that's it.
The different mushrooms What we can find in cannabis plants are:
Oidium, white or poorly white, although we can call it in many ways, this parasitic fungus, if it is not treated in time, can render 100% our cannabis cultivation unusable. Oidium is manifested as white powder and should not be confused with dust or resin in the leaves. In a second phase the attacked leaves turn yellowish and end up drying.
RustAlthough it is a rare fungus, its power is destructive and can ruin your harvest. Beware of excessive humidity and the rainy season.
Sclerotinia, is a fungus that mainly attacks the stem, prevents nutrients from reaching the leaves, causing the death of the plants. We can identify it by its cottony white color and watery soft texture.
Botrytis or gray mold is the most common fungus in cannabis plants and appears because of excess moisture. The gray mold attacks leaves and the stem although it is usually primed with flowers. We can identify it because the buds acquire a gray color, its texture will change quickly drying and granulating, leaving the inside of the head as if it were filled with cotton.
Mildew, is a fungus very resistant to different climatic conditions, and very resistant in the time, like almost all the fungi appear because of an excess of humidity. We can detect it by some yellow spots on the tips of the leaves, and as the infection increases, a grayish mold develops on the back of the leaves, reaching the stem and buds. The treatment is similar to Oídio although if the plant is in bloom it will be difficult to save.
If you have the bad fortune to have any of the pests or fungi described above you can find products to combat them in Piensa en verde.
Here’s what you want to know before visiting your regional medical dispensary:You may need a physician’s recommendation, medical cannabis certificate, or whatever proper documentation is required by your state. Ordinarily, you need to be 18 or older to be eligible for a medical consent, but exceptions could be made in some conditions for minors with especially debilitating problems. You will often register with a medicinal dispensary. This is to maintain your medical cannabis recommendation or certificate on file for legal and regulatory purposes. There will be a waiting space. This will be to control the circulation of product and patients, but a straightforward dividing wall also gives patients privacy and direct one-on-one contact with a budtender to candidly discuss medical issues. This procedure can help budtenders and patients track effective medicine in addition to possess a living record of producers and goods for future reference and follow up. Medicinal dispensaries usually allow you to smell and examine the buds before buy. This may vary from state-to-state.
